About the program
The aim of the physiotherapy program is to expand your health span as we currently have an increase in lifespan that is NOT matched by an increase in health span. So those last years or even decades of your life can be pretty miserable. 80% of Australians aged 65 or over have three or more chronic conditions. Aging is by itself the biggest risk factor for the increase in chronic diseases and disabilities. The biggest accelerators of biological aging are:
- Physical inactivity
- Too much time spent sitting
- Too many centimetres around the stomach (women >80cm and men>94cm)
As aging is at the centre of chronic diseases, if we can reduce the rate of biological aging we can reduce the rate of appearance of all of those diseases and subsequent loss of function – everywhere - all at once.
At Age Right Physiotherapy, Trish aims to increase your physical activity to be in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organisation. She will meet you where you are at and help you improve your strength, balance and fitness and ultimately your well-being. Anyone can recommend an exercise program, but dosage is key. Trish runs exercise classes, rather than giving home exercise programs to ensure that everyone is exercising at an intensity to get results. It is necessary to commit to x2/week attendance. The exercises are based on function – the things we do in life. They are individually modified to suit each member of the group. People get stronger, fitter and feel better.
